As the operative fights through the village and surrounding farmhouses, they encounter various specialized infected forms, including those who wield weapons or possess unique abilities. The investigation reveals that a rogue faction of Neo-Umbrella is running the operation from the local church, led by a charismatic cult leader who has been infected with a superior strain. This leader uses the parasite to maintain absolute control over the village and plans to distribute the infection globally via a shipment of biological samples. The operative must navigate traps, fight through hordes of mind-controlled citizens, and confront specialized bio-organic weapons created from mutated humans. Ultimately, the protagonist breaches the church, defeats the cult leader in a brutal confrontation, and destroys the primary source of the parasite's control. With the leader dead, the hive mind collapses, leaving the remaining villagers as confused, dying husks. The facility is destroyed to prevent further spread, marking the end of the immediate threat, though the existence of such a weapon leaves lingering questions about the safety of the world.
