In 2004, U.S. government agent Leon S. Kennedy travels to an unnamed rural village in Spain to rescue Ashley Graham, who has been abducted by Los Iluminados. Leon is captured by the village chief, Bitores Mendez, and injected with Las Plagas. He later rescues Ashley from a church. Osmund Saddler reveals his plan to use the parasite in Ashley to control the President. Leon fights through the village, a castle owned by Ramon Salazar, and a nearby island research facility. With help from Ada Wong, Leon kills Saddler and escapes with Ashley as the island explodes.
